The Indian Structural Integrity Society (InSIS) unites researchers and practicing specialists across the spectrum to disseminate their research work, and collaborate in the broad area of structural integrity. SICE 2020 envisions both researchers and practitioners from various disciplines that are aligned with structural integrity. This together with the theme-related Expo and the Conference Technical Program are intended to provide a unique networking opportunity to Structural Integrity professionals from around the world .
Like many countries around the world, India is also victim of the COVID19 pandemic, especially Mumbai. Therefore, in the interest of all our speakers, participants and organizers, SICE 2020 in consultation with InSIS has decided to conduct an e-Conference in December 2020. The physical meeting of SICE with take place in the future, when the situation is conducive. SICE 2020 provides a unique forum for researchers and practicing specialists to share their research work in the broad inter-disciplinary field of Structural Integrity. The organizers of SICE 2020 invite contributions, in the form of e-presentations and e-posters, combined with proceedings papers, related to both fundamental and applied research. We strongly encourage industry to participate and share their work. The e-conference intends to provide an alternative way to learn from experts, share and get feedback on your research.

InSIS is a professional society intended to serve all professionals working in the area of Structural Integrity, the science and engineering that affects strength, durability and safety of machines and structures. These include educators, researchers and practicing engineers, working in disciplines targeting assurance or evaluation of strength, durability and safety of engineered products prone to structural defects. These also include professionals in the area of damage mechanics, CAE, structural health monitoring, repair technology, failure analysis and It unites professionals in all spheres of engineering, as diverse as biomedical and electronics because every engineered product faces the threat of mechanical failure.
Today’s engineering activity is multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary. All practicing engineers as well those who prepare them in colleges and those, who support them in research have to deal with what causes materials and structures to behave the way they do. Such structures may be civil constructions. They can also be biomedical implants, just as they can be electronic circuit boards. Each of these is built from a different class of materials, demands a somewhat different method to analyse, test, etc. But all these fall into the single domain of Structural Integrity. Obviously, it unites many, who are already members of other professional societies in related areas. These include IIM, ISAMPE, NDT, Failure Analysis, etc. Each of these plays an important role in a particular discipline. InSIS extends the sum of these by providing a platform for collaboration between a wide variety of professionals, in order to advance their professional pursuits and in the process, also elevate the quality of design, manufacturing and operation of engineered machines and structures in the country.
Our objective is to organize targeted Workshops and other learning avenues as demanded by our member community. An annual conference will show case india’s expertise in the science and application of structural integrity. InSIS hopes to serve as a platform for academia – industry exchanges and partnerships to foster targeted R&D. Of course, the work in this area will be showcased through conferences partnered with other Societies and papers forwarded to leading international journals..
